Hirado, an exquisitely beautiful town in the far West corner of Japan.

Hirado is famous for its role in the establishment of international trade in Japan. From Hirado, new foreign products such as beer, sweet potatoes, and bread were first introduced to Japan. Delicacies from Hirado are rice, ago (flying fish) and Hirado-style castella cake ‘Kasudosu’.

The people of Hirado are very friendly to friends and strangers alike. We hope that their faces and stories inspire you to come and meet them in their hometown.

私たちは、オランダから参りましたBonny（ボニー）と、中国から参りました　丁（テイ）です。平戸という、長崎県にある美しい町の市役所で国際交流員として勤めています。

 平戸市は、平戸島、生月島、大島、度島、田平町で構成され、中心街は、平戸城下に広がる城下町で、日本と中国、ポルトガル、英国とオランダとの貿易が始まった重要な場所でした。

大航海時代、海外の窓口であったため、平戸から、ビール、スイートポテト、パンなどの外国製品が平戸から日本全土へ発信されました。

 平戸の名物は、あご（トビウオ）、棚田米、天然塩、そして「カスドース」というポルトガルから最初に伝来したカステラです。

 しかし、何よりも私たちは平戸に住んでみて、温かいおもてなしの心を持つ平戸の人々に感動しています。

HONYの「HUMANS OF NEW YORK」という、ニューヨークの一般人を紹介するフォトブログにインスピレーションを得て、このブログ、「HUMANS OF HIRADO」を始めました。

このブログで平戸の人々を紹介すること通じて、平戸の歴史や食べ物以外に、地域に隠れた「ストーリー」を紹介したいと思っております。
